4 x 4 TRAILS

Southern Africa is one of the premier destinations in the world for appreciating the wilderness from a 4x4 vehicle. If you want an intimate experience with the majesty of nature then a 4x4 trail is highly recommended.

A number of options are available. Trails lasting several hours or a full day offer fun and adventure whilst longer expeditions take you into the remote areas of Southern Africa. For those wanting to do a self drive tour, several companies offer 4x4 rental. Their vehicles are equipped with all the necessary camping gear, including a roof top tent. Alternatively, it is possible to take a guided tour.

A fun and useful activity are 4x4 training courses, offered by several companies as well as obstacle-type courses requiring you to drive through mud, sand, over rock etc.

For the true outdoor enthusiast, there is no greater thrill then venturing into the wilderness in a 4x4. There are an endless number of spectacular options including Botswana with its Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve; Lesotho with challenging mountain terrain; Mozambique for its beautiful beaches, fishing, diving and snorkelling; Namibia for its wildlife, red dunes and the Namib Desert and Zambia with its nineteen national parks.

South Africa offers an overwhelming variety of areas to explore from majestic mountains to dry deserts, from open savannah to tropical forests. Most of the national parks as well as many private farms offer 4x4 trails. These need to be booked in advance as only one party is allowed at a time.
