SAFARIS
IN SOUTH AFRICA
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK AND
PRIVATE RESERVES AROUND IT
The
accommodation in the private reserves is more luxurious
and the service more personalised. The package includes
all meals which are usually better than those in the Kruger
National Park.
- In the private reserves, the number
of guests is normally limited to approximately 20 guests,
there are far fewer vehicles at an animal sighting.
- Night drives are included in most
private reserves.
- In the private reserves it is usually
possible to leave the roads and follow animals through the
bush, allowing for a longer and closer sighting.
- The private reserves are found
in the area of Kruger and there are no fences in between.
We recommend a mixture of both options
or if time is limited, 2 or 3 nights in the private reserve.
It is a unique and unforgettable experience.

The lodges used are situated within the privately
owned and operated Sabi Sand Game Reserve, part of the 2,2
million hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Here you will
come face to face with Africa’s Big Five and may be
lucky enough to encounter other rarer species such as the
endangered wild dogs and cheetah.
The highlight of your visit is the thrill of discovering wildlife
from open 4x4 vehicles. Your experienced game ranger and local
Shangaan tracker are keen to share with you their extensive
knowledge and love of the African bush. The day starts with
an early morning game drive, then after breakfast a bush walk
gives you the opportunity to learn about the smaller wonders
of the veld. During the afternoon game drive you will stop
at a carefully selected venue to enjoy a sun-downer whilst
watching the sun set over the awe-inspiring wilderness.
Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the dining
room and evening meals are served around a fire in the boma
(weather permitting). Each meal is prepared with exquisite
care and this combined with the open-air setting, promise
an unforgettable dining experience.
The exclusive lodges host between 10 and 40 guests, guaranteeing
gracious hospitality, personal service and privacy.
The various lodges offer different levels
of luxury. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan
and some have airconditioning. Facilities include a swimming
pool and some have a spa.
NB:
It is possible to arrange for charter flights
direct from the lodge to other destinations in the country.
Scheduled flights also depart from Hoedspruit
airport, but these only go to Johannesburg. Hoedspruit is
closer to the lodge and therefore the road transfer would
be cheaper.
It is also possible to transfer by road to Maputo
in Mozambique for a flight to one of the island resorts
where diving, snorkelling, fishing and relaxation await.
Road transfers can be arranged to the destination
of your choice.
