the Long Tom Pass to the Drakensberg mountains of Mpumalanga.

Mount Sheba along the Panorama Route. Stop at the crafts
shops of Graskop, the fascinating Pinnacle Rock, spectacular
views from Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes and Blyde
River Canyon. Arrive in Hoedspruit, tour of the Kapama
Endangered Species Centre. From here, head into Central
Kruger National Park for late afternoon game viewing on
your way to the rest camp. Retire to your thatched bungalow

Wake up before sunrise and head out for game viewing.
The early morning start may not seem like a vacation
but it is worthwhile! Often lion and leopard may be
encountered still on the move in the cool hours of the
morning. Return to the rest camp in the late morning
and enjoy a stroll around the camp, take a swim or simply
relax. The birding around camp is superb.
After lunch, head off on the afternoon game drive.
Some of the animals you may see include the “Big
Five” (lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant)
as well as an equally interesting variety of antelope,
hippo, warthog, crocodiles, wild dog, hyena, giraffe
and zebra. If you would like to do a night drive with
one of the Kruger Park rangers, we can book this in
advance or you can book on arrival at your camp. With
a spotlight they will hunt for the nocturnal creatures
that inhabit the bush. Allow the scents and sounds of
the African night to steal your soul. |
Day 4:
Once again wake up before sunrise, pack up and head to
the next camp. This provides the opportunity to experience
a different topography and habitat. En route enjoy more
game viewing and stop for breakfast. The birdlife in the
Kruger National Park is spectacular and many a visitor
has become addicted. Don’t miss out on the smaller
creatures of the African bush like the fascinating dung
beetle and different kinds of mongoose.
After lunch, settle into the bungalow and spend a relaxing
few hours around the camp, don’t forget to visit
the interesting camp gift shop with its variety of African
curios. Head out late afternoon for game viewing. |
Day 5:
Kruger National Park-Johannesburg
This will be your last game drive through the park on
your way back to Johannesburg. You could stop at a cultural
village for an introduction to the legends and traditions

drive. Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers comfortable
style in one of the world's few remaining wilderness
areas. It is a privately owned and operated property
within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, part of the 2,2 million
hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Here you will
come face to face with Africa’s Big Five and may
be lucky enough to encounter other rarer species such
as the endangered wild dogs and cheetah.
The highlight of your visit is the thrill of discovering
wildlife from open 4x4 vehicles. Your experienced game
ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share
with you their extensive knowledge and love of the African

| Day 1:Depart
from Johannesburg to the Land of Legends, the Limpopo
Province, stopping on the way at of of the many craft
centres that dot this creative region. These projects
assist the local community in the development and marketing
of local crafts such as pottery, textile painting, jewellery
making, wood and stone carvings and paper craft. Visit
the picturesque village of Haenertsburg before continuing
the Magoebaskloof Hotel, in a breathtaking mountain setting.
Here there is a good chance of seeing the rare (CITES
Appendix 11) Samango Monkey that inhabit the indigenous
forests around the Hotel. |
Day 2: Depart at
8.30am through the spectacular Magoebaskloof Pass to
Tzaneen via Woodbush Indigenous Forest and the mystical
Debengeni Falls.Visit Tzaneen museum which focuses on
traditional Venda, Tsonga and Shangaan crafts including
pottery, beadwork, weapons and an assortment of royal
drums of the Rain Queen Modjadji. From Tzaneen proceed
along the scenic road to Duiwelskloof, and visit the
the Modjadji Cycad Reserve, housing 50 million year
old cycads dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.
Stop at a gigantic and ancient Baobab Tree. From here,
proceed to Phalaborwa with a stop at Kaross Workers.
These artists are renowned for their ability to capture
striking images and scenes in colourful embroidery on
textile. Their cushion covers, table mats, wall hangings
etc are true works of art. In Phalaborwa visit the largest
open cast copper mine in the world.
You could take a sunset cruise on the
spectacular Olifants river to view hippo, crocodile
and other wildlife and birds.

Day 6: Head out
of Kruger National Park and on to Gomo Gomo Game Lodge,
a private and intimate camp situated on the banks of
the Nhlaralumi River in the prestigious Timbavati Nature
Reserve, which was home to the original pride of the
famous white lions. Timbavati now forms part of the
Greater Kruger National Park with a common unfenced
border.
With a traversing area of approximately
12000 hectares guests have an excellent possibility
of coming face to face with the “ Big 5 “
(lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino) and numerous
other mammals and bird species in their natural habitat.
Early morning and late afternoon /
evening game drives are conducted in open 4 X 4 Land
Rovers with well qualified and experienced field guides
and trackers who will ensure an exciting and informative
safari. An optional bushwalk with your field guide will
open up the world of some of South Africa’s intricate
ecosystems with its varied fauna and flora.
A maximum of 18 guests are accommodated
in fully furnished, brick and thatch chalets and East
African Style Safari Tents, all with en-suite facilities
and electricity.
Breakfast and lunch are served on the
deck in an open thatched-roofed lapa overlooking the
river, while dinner is served traditional African style
around a log fire in one of our two bomas.
During the day guests can relax on
the deck in the shade of a century old Leadwood tree
or cool down in the plunge pool. At night the camp is

Leave Hazyview and head towards the Swazi Border. Pass
through the beautiful country of Swaziland stopping at
the Ngenya Glass Factory, then on through Zululand to
Hluhluwe Game Reserve for your overnight stay. Thanks
to the conservation efforts of this game reserve, the
white and black rhinoceros were saved from extinction.

Take an early walk at Ghost Mountain Inn or a Game Drive
in Mkuze Game Reserve or spoil yourself with a treatment

Travel to the Drakensberg Mountains of Natal. A UNESCO
World Heritage Site, these mountains are renowned for
the many San rock paintings. A wide variety of fauna and
flora and plentiful bird species including the lammergeyer
vulture, one of the rarest birds of prey in the world,
inhabit the region. The area is a hiker’s paradise,
criss-crossed with numerous trails ranging from several
hours to several days. These pass through some of the
most dramatic scenery in the world, leading to waterfalls,

| Day 2: Depart
Mount Sheba along the Panorama Route. This includes a
stop at the crafts shops of Graskop, the fascinating Pinnacle
Rock, spectacular views from Gods Window, Bourkes Luck
Potholes and Blyde River Canyon. Continue into Kruger
National Park for late afternoon game viewing on your
way to the rest camp. Retire to your thatched bungalow

Day 3: Wake up before
sunrise and head out for game viewing. The early morning
start may not seem like a vacation but it is worthwhile!
Often lion and leopard may be encountered still on the
move in the cool hours of the morning. Return to the
rest camp in the late morning and enjoy a stroll around
the camp, take a swim or simply relax. The birding around
camp is superb.
After lunch, head off on the afternoon
game drive. Some of the animals you may see include
the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, buffalo,
rhino and elephant) as well as an equally interesting
variety of antelope, hippo, warthog, crocodiles, wild
dog, hyena, giraffe and zebra. If you would like to
do a night drive with one of the Kruger Park rangers,
we can book this in advance or you can book on arrival
at your camp. With a spotlight they will hunt for the
nocturnal creatures that inhabit the bush. Allow the
scents and sounds of the African night to steal your
soul. |
| Day 4: A final
safari on your way out of the Park starts the morning.
Pass through the beautiful country of Swaziland stopping
at the Ngenya Glass Factory, then on through Zulaland
to Ghost Mountain Inn for your overnight stay. |
| Day 5: Take an
early walk at Ghost Mountain Inn or a Game Drive in Mkuze
Game Reserve or spoil yourself with a treatment at the
Spa. Depart Ghost Mountain Inn and continue to Dumazulu
for a cultural experience and overnight in elegantly comfortable

Day 3: Head to Elephant
Plains, arriving in time for a late lunch and afternoon
game drive. Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers comfortable
style in one of the world's few remaining wilderness
areas. It is a privately owned and operated property
within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, part of the 2,2 million
hectare Greater Kruger National Park. Here you will
come face to face with Africa’s Big Five and may
be lucky enough to encounter other rarer species such
as the endangered wild dogs and cheetah.
The highlight of your visit is the thrill of discovering
wildlife from open 4x4 vehicles. Your experienced game
ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share
with you their extensive knowledge and love of the African
bush. The day starts with an early morning game drive,
then after breakfast a bush walk gives you the opportunity
to learn about the smaller wonders of the veld. During
the afternoon game drive you will stop at a carefully
selected venue to enjoy a sun-downer whilst watching
the sun set over the awe-inspiring wilderness.
Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style in the dining
room and evening meals are served around a fire in the
boma (weather permitting). Each meal is prepared with
exquisite care and this combined with the open-air setting,
promise an unforgettable dining experience.
Elephant Plains is home to a maximum of 22 guests, this
combined with flexibility and gracious hospitality ensures
comfort and provides a very personal service.
Accommodation is in standard
spacious appointed thatched chalets tastefully decorated
with an African theme. All chalets have en-suite bathrooms
(bath and shower) air-conditioning, overhead fans, mosquito
nets, electronic safe, tea and coffee making facilities.

take a short drive to Hoedspruit where you can visit the
Kapama Endangered Species Centre, interact with elephants
and take a short ride, take a tour of the Moholoholo Rehabilitation

| Day 5: Travel
along the Panorama Route. This includes Blyde River Canyon,
Bourkes Luck Potholes, Gods Window, The Pinnacle, several
waterfalls, the craft shops at Graskop and the picturesque
gjold rush town of Pilgrims Rest, now a national monument.
